Localised automorphisms in Kitaev's model on a lattice
Pieter Naaijkens
In this talk I will introduce a certain quantum spin model on a lattice, first discussed by Kitaev. After an overview of the basic notions of the C*-algebraic description of quantum spin systems, I will discuss excitations of this model. In particular, these excitations can be described by "cone localised" automorphisms of the observable algebra. This enables us to carry out the Doplicher-Haag-Roberts program (more precisely, a generalisation to unbounded regions) in this setting. If time permits, operator algebraic aspects of the model are discussed.
